FAILURE VS FEEDBACK

I came across this quote recently and I thought it would be a good follow up to the post I wrote a couple weeks ago.

“There is no such thing as failure, only results. These can be used as feedback, helpful corrections, a splendid opportunity to learn something you had not noticed. Failure is just a way of describing a result you did not want. You can use the results you get to redirect your efforts. Feedback keeps the goal in view. Failure is a dead end.”

I think that this quote is very thought provoking. As outlined in the post linked above we need to simply view failure as one idea or method that did not work, not the end of the road.

Try your best and live with the result. You can always reassess and try something a little different next time if you did not get the result you wanted.

Just WOW. Gareth, Katie G (one of my personal fave first muscle up videos ever), and Kellie – serious props! You made it look easy (well, except you, Katie <3), which in no way minimizes the significance of achieving these milestones. It would be very easy to say "there must be something in the water over there at CRAIC…." but there's nothing sneaky about smart programming and hard working people!

Umm, Are we having fun or what???  If anyone else has read a book called the Talent Code, they’d recognize that a hotbed of talent is developing at Craic.  Now, not to get ahead of ourselves, the hard work needs to continue from everyone, all I’m saying is a fire has been lit. A key concept in that book is the idea of ignition, how one person’s achievement shows others what is possible and sparks them to try to match it themselves.  It’s clearly happening around here with pull-ups, muscle ups and bar muscle ups.  We don’t post these videos because they’re pretty, they’re often not.  But they are firsts, and firsts will become many, and the prettiness will come.  We post them to celebrate each other and to ignite the drive in each other.  Keep em coming!
